Playwright Candrice Jones, author of "FLEX", wins coveted Kesselring Prize
Since 1980, the Kesselring Prize for Playwriting has been awarded to writers whose work shows “great promise”, according to the organization’s website, and, as the nominating organization, TheatreSquared is thrilled to note that Candrice Jones is this year’s recipient.
Jones’ “FLEX” was workshopped at TheatreSquared’s Arkansas New Play Festival and received a full production on the West Theatre stage last summer.
“History tells us that Kesselring recipients generally go on to become major forces in the theatre world,” reads the organizaton’s website, and, indeed, the list of previous recipients reads like a “Who’s Who” of American theater, and includes names like Mona Mansour, Lauren Yee, David Lindsay-Abaire, Anna Deavere Smith and Tony Kushner.
We’re so happy that Jones’ name has been added to that list and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
