WHEN A BOOK IS RETURNED 113 YEARS LATE, a librarian sets out to find some answers. Armed with only a dry cleaning ticket and the initial "A.", he discovers a trail of crumbs that leads through Germany, Australia, the U.S. and China, and solving the mystery becomes his singular obsession.

Artist Biographies

CRAIG MACDONALD (The Librarian) has worked as an actor, director and theater artist for 35 years and currently teaches in the Syracuse University BFA Acting Program. He has performed on stages from Off-Broadway to regional theaters to tours, as well as on camera for both television and film. He recently performed the roles of Gaston in Picasso at the Lapin Agile and the Constable in Fiddler on the Roof for Syracuse Stage. Other recent roles include Horace in Hello, Dolly! for the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, and Pa Joad in the Cornell URTA production of The Grapes of Wrath. He also sings, plays drums and guitar, and records with the group "Old Scots." He has directed and produced theater as well, most recently directing Karl Gregory in his Syracuse Salt Award-winning performance in Fully Committed for the Kitchen Theater in Ithaca.

SHANA GOLD (Director) Directing credits include: The Storyteller by Nathalie Handal (The Kennedy Center), Lameece Isaaq’s Food and Fadwa (New York Theatre Workshop’s ASWAT/UNHEARD VOICES Series), Stanton Wood’s At the Pole (Urban Stages), Twelfth Night (Long Island University), and In the Crossing by Leila Buck (The Public Theatre). Her production of Circumference of a Squirrel received the Austin Critics Table Award for Best New Play and Best Director. Her work in new play development has also been seen at: Vassar College/New York Stage and Film, Dartmouth University, Soho Rep, Woolly Mammoth, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Theatre J, Silk Road Theatre Project, and Manhattan Theatre Club’s Sloane Series. She is a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, the Lark’s Playground, NYU’s MFA Playwrights’ Resident Company, the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, and a New Georges Affiliated Artist.
